ZO||

1.5 hours to go...
to the end of 2010....
same feeling every year..... why time passes so fast de....

looking back.....
2010 was a bad year for the world.....
extreme climate......disasters every where.....


~life is like a box of chocolate~
my 2o1o is the bittersweet chocolate in the box....

got a someone who make me feel beautiful.....
however he is not by my side....
got to learn my favourite language--French....
got into an accident and knock my precious nose....
gone through operation to fix my nose....
had wonderful celebration for my 21st birthday...
my dear doggie is resting in peace.....

past had already passed....
no point holding it for the new beginning.....
although can't really let the sorrow go...
at least make the last day of the year a happy ending....

home alone.....celebrating the new year eve.....
with books and notes....
and also.....
a glass of sweet sweet Chocolate milkshake.... =D

冬至

here comes the last Chinese festival of the year -->冬至 (winter solstice)
it always falls on few days before Xmas.....
this traditional Chinese festival is kinda overwhelmed by Santa and Xmas trees....
(erm.....some would said Xmas is not about that old man......no comment about it here)
anyway....my family definitely would celebrate winter solstice festival....
how to celebrate?
basically just family reunion dinner + the traditional festive food

TANG YUAN!!!
i like these small chewy glutinous rice balls....
totally tasteless.....
that's why they can be served in both savoury and sweet soup....

no no no.......
it's tang yuan.....
I think plain tang yuan taste better in savoury soup....
coz it absorbs the flavour of soup...=)


this is the sweet type of tang yuan.....
pumpkin tong sui....hehe.....


my stomach full with tang yuan tonight......
ate almost 20 of them...........hehe.....

j'ai 21 ans!!


2-11-2010
this date tells me that I've been living my life for 21 years....
21 years old....
the KEY age....which the key of freedom will be given....

I had two awesome celebrations.....

avec ma famille @ Le Bouchon

It is a French dining restaurant at Bukit Bintang
it's a cozy restaurant....I like the interior....
front part of the restaurant is pub...
passed by the bar......go to the dining area through this short hallway....
the waiter pulled the chairs and also unfolded the serviette for all of us.....excellent service....=)
this is the whole restaurant view.....


time to order......we took almost 30min to decide what to eat....

after placing order.....some herb buns were served with butter.....


the bun smell so nice......*sniff sniff*
took a bite.....wow!! SOFT but still springy and abit chewy......
it's just the way that a perfect bread suppose to be....for me la....hehe....

I ordered a 4-course set meal....
appetizer....
Gratin d’asperges aux truffes du Périgord et au Champagne
(Gratin of asparagus with Champagne sabayon and black truffles from Périgord)



if you wonder where's the truffle....it's the black piece of mushroom-like thing on the right....
the left one is flower....yes....only one small slice in the dish.... =="
I didn't find it special though....it's abit crunchy like black fungus and it's not as flavorful as I thought...
but I like the sabayon sauce....light and sour....it's a good sauce for appetizer....^^


Coquilles St Jacques grillées et fricassée de champignons sauvages, sauce au Porto
( Grilled sea scallops with wild mushroom fricassee and Port wine sauce)
this is my favourite savoury dish in the set.....
scallop is fresh.....it's not overcooked....still juicy and springy....
it is always fun to eat fish roe.....like the funny explosion in the mouth when I bite it....
mushroom with Port wine sauce... slightly tiny hints of bitter....
I think due to the alcohol or what....
the sauce did not overwhelm the scallop....GOOD!!

Magret de canard rôti au miel de montagne, échalotes confites et fricassée de légumes aux tomates séchées au soleil
(Mountain honey roasted duck breast, confit shallots and fricassee of vegetables with sundried tomatoes)
I was abit worry when I chose this dish...
duck breast that I afraid it might be overcooked, turned out good...
it wasn't dry and still tender.....
although the skin I thought would be crispy, it wasn't at all.....
Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5....=D
I like the black shallot confit that was dripped around the duck artistically.....
slight hints of sweetness... like marmite.... match so well with the duck....yum yum...
oh ya!!! the deep fried ball at the corners of the plate
it's so nice....the texture is like deep-fried mashed yam and taste like that too...
but the menu said it's fry vegetable with sundried tomatoes...hmm.....dunno la....
i just LOVE it....hehe....

Crème brulée aux framboises
(Crème brulée with raspberries)


crack the caramelized sugar and dig some creme brulee and put into mouth......
the cream is smooth and creamy......not too thick or light....
just the right sweetness with the sugar .....yum yum.....
the under the creme brulee got a layer of raspberry jam....
a great dessert to end my dinner....=D

it's the best time to have some wine, isn't? =p
so I brought the French rose to the restaurant...
the one that I bought in the wine tasting event...

Santé!!

it was a great dinner....
but it just took too long for 1 dinner.....
we spend 2 and half hours for dinner that night....

Held a small birthday party at my house just now....
around 18 friends from high school and uni came....
buffet style....we didn't order catering since there wasn't many people....
my mom prepared the dishes.....
I cooked a few too...
forgot to take the picture of the food....
I make chocolate fondue, pasta and baked potatoes....
all of them were clear into the stomach...
so proud of myself.... =P
the cerewet ling likes the baked potatoes I make....wohohoho....
so happy......hehe....

I LOVE the strawberry Tart from RT pastry house....
for sure....my birthday cake was that too....=D

everyone was crazy over the red shiny juicy strawberry on the cake....

before the candle blowing session began....
got a HUGE surprise from my dearest siblings.....
they gather birthday wishes video from the people I know...
and make it in a really nice video.....
the most surprise part was the wishes video from the UK people.....
I was so surprised and touched.....
crying non stop.....tears of joy....=D
love love to my family....(= 3=)

thanks all the friends who take the effort attending my party....



some of them travelled from Seremban...from Seminyih...from KL...
some of they had some other appointment that night too.....
but they still take the effort to come...
really appreciate a lot....
thanks guys....=D

French Wine Tasting

This week is "la semaine du goût" (the week of taste)
Alliance Francaise KL organised a series of activities about French cuisine....
French wines tasting was one of them.....
with a wine wholesaler--Cave and Cellar

it was on Thursday.....6pm at AFKL....
the French institute where I learn my French....=)
nothing is free in this world....we had to pay RM10 to join the event....



3 types of wine were served...
supposed to be 4...but they cancelled one....
yes....u guess it...the most expensive one....

everyone was served with some snack to go with the wines....


there were some grapes...
slices of baguette with 2 types of topping: slices of tomato & cheese....onion & grated cheese....

started with the
Côtes de Provence Rose AOC


the pinkish wine.....
it was light and fresh....fruity... I like it.... =)
hardly find any rosé wine at hypermarkets here...
I had 2 glasses of rosé wine...hehe....
this was drunk half....=)

then served the Beaujolais Villages AOC
the red wine...

the colour was red-ruby......
this was light as well.....
it's quite young....not bad.....

the last one.....Médoc AOC


red wine too....but the red was more intense than Beaujolais Villages
it was full-bodied and intensed and not very tart....
I don't like the wines that are very acidic.....
this was quite good as well.....=)

I'm not any wine expert.....couldn't taste the specific flavor of the wines....
just my personal preference...
my favourite one was still the pinkish wine....=)
looked at the price......RM56.....
not very expensive.....
so I bought one bottle.....hehe.....

the wine tasting ended at 8pm.....

after that......went to The Mist for YeongJian's birthday.....
ended my night/morning at 3am.....
exhausted...... (+_+)
luckily I had no class on the next day.....

Autumn is here....\(^O^)/

autumn officially took over summer.....
summer break ended...
autumn term started...

I am so excited about going back to classes....
seeing those Notti. friends.....
until I actually sit in the class......
from 9am-5pm
with 1 hour break ONLY.....

it's EXHAUSTING......for the very first day of my year 2.....
especially I had just finish a 12-hour promoter job on Sunday....
brain was totally not working today.....
can't process any information in class....
feel weird when holding the pen and try to write....

it's time to get serious....
erm....after enjoying week 1...... ;p

mid-autumn festival '10

there is no autumn here....
but still had lots of fun celebrating this traditional chinese festival...
HAPPY MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL...=D

my mom always cooks a lot every time when it's a BIG DAY.....
vegetarian dinner.....

my all time favourite vegetarian dish...
braised vegetarian chicken feet with mushroom...



the chicken feet absorbed the gravy like tofu pok....yum yum
and the mushrooms have a wonderful meaty texture...tender and smooth....
could have 1 full bowl of rice with this dish alone....=D

after dinner....
it's time to prepare for the tea and mooncake session..=)

today is the day that my Notti. friends leaving to UK.....
most of them go for the mobility program.....some transfer to UK campus....

ME and Vishnu went KLIA earlier at midnight.......
to accompany QuWern who's already reached KLIA the day before.....around 1030pm

Sekinchan

Sekinchan.....
seafood.....paddy.....orchard.....
these are all the thngs I know about Sekinchan.....
the plan of Sekinchan family trip was on hold for few months due to a cold war.....
it's finally resume on 1st day of Hari Raya....^^

we though all people had already gone back to hometown...
and the car could fly all the way to Sekinchan.....
we're so wrong.........
it took us 3 hours to get there.....==

the FIRST thing we did when we reached there....
got ourselves stuffed with SEAFOOD!!! ^^
all seafood restaurant full with people......
mostly KL people I guess....based on the car plate...

CAUTION!!! HOT and CRISPY!!

it's attacked before I could take the photo of its complete body...

myself and the table will become very messy everytime eating crab....
but still love it....=)

MY FAVOURITE of ALL dishes
steam lala.....
they're not the ordinary thin shell lala we usually eat....
this one with thick shell.......
just steam with a lot of ginger shred, some rice wine and oil
simple but delicious...=D

me and my sis ate most of the lala.....yum yum.....

we had our seafood lunch at BIG seafood restaurant with air-con.....
at the end of the meal, we were guessing how much does it cost us.....
RM160? RM180?
it turned out RM109...... 0.O
dai dou lan..... (so damn worth it) XD

had a walk to the jetty after lunch.....

to see if there is any fresh seafood to grab......
answer was NO..... =(
the fishermen would stay at the sea for 3 days......

after refill the energy with seafood....
time to do our MAIN mission there....
this was the thing........the main reason why we went Sekinchan....




they grow along the road side of paddy field....

we're plucking the fruits for rats.......
because they are building a kingdom above the ceiling....
it's POISONOUS fruit that will bring their kingdom down... hehe...
there were few old men very kind...
they riding motorbike and passing by......
they stopped and told us, "it's POISONOUS de.....for rats...you can't eat...."
thanks uncle....we know....=)

me and my sis were busy taking picture while my mom and maid were busy plucking the rat fruit....hehe....

after getting enough rat fruit.....
it's time to search for the golden fruit for human--> MANGO
drive drive drive....looking for the orchard.......
there were a lot of mangoes hanging on the trees.....
but most of them still green in colour....
the owner said they can only be harvested after 2 weeks..... T^T

we can't go home with empty hand......
went to the rice factory to buy rice...hehe....
20 kg of normal local rice.....2 kg of Pearl rice....2 kg of brown rice....
hmm....don't have to buy any rice in the coming month....hehe....

the sun was going to set........
time to go home......
rest well and start my two days of hell in the next two days.... T_T
